Originally by: Szu Chang I am having an issue of EFT not wanting to connect to the API server after getting 2.12.2, anyone know what maybe causing it, and I checked the FAQ, and even double checked my firewall settings
I am seeing the same thing. I enter my API info and click Connect. It seems to connect but presents NO characters in the list to choose from and thus will not allow me to click OK and thus will not allow me to save my API info. I am running Windows 7 64bit and have tried running EFT.exe in Windows XP compatibility mode and have tried to run it as an administrator. The same behavior persists.

Originally by: Marko Riva API is down, that's why. It's only been allover the main forum, also the fact that EVEmon has issues should give you a clue.
This is good to know. Initially, I thought this might be the case but it had not worked for two days. So, I thought I would post. Admittedly, I did not check whatever thread mentions the status of API. (The prospect of trolling through the abundantly broad results of CCP's pathetic forum search engine never fails to depress me... though I do always try.) In this case, I had a problem with EFT, so I came here first.
Oh, and I do not have EVEmon installed, so that clue was not available to me at the time. However, I do have EVEmon installed on my work PC which was working fine only two hours before I encountered this problem at home.
Anyway, I have since confirmed that it is working today.
May I suggest incorporating some sort of error checking in the API connection process so that a message such as "API is down" or "Failed to retrieve character list: API may be down" will appear if the character list is unavailable? Or, at least, add to the FAQ a line that says: "If the API connects but retrieves no characters, chances are that the API interface is down." This might save the author the hassle of posts like these and save some time tinkering on behalf of us lowly users. ;)
...Not to sound crotchety or anything. I certainly appreciate the effort that goes into this fine tool!
